How to explain the Basic Coding Concepts to a child?

Branching

When one fails to follow the original sequence of computer instructions and thanks to a specific situation, its task will continue as usual. Branches occur only when the sequence is not enough wide enough to meet the requirement, and allows the branches to continue and replace the initial sequence as it needs to be completed.

Suppose the normal gold routine of your children is described above, but every Tuesday is a football practice, so they need to take a quick bath to wash them before bed. As part of the new sequence, we will add “a bath” instructions every Tuesday, which will look like this:

  • Soak in the tub
  • Make sure you brush your teeth
  • Put on your pajamas

It is likely that your child is already accustomed to conditional statements such as these. Ask them to demonstrate their grasp of conditional arguments and discuss additional kinds of conditional statements so that they can utilize them in the future.

Variables and Syntax in Programming

Variables are like containers to store data values, and it is also a memory location for data types. There are some rules that need to be followed before declaring. Variables are generally the names allocated for values. The names are alphanumeric, that is, they have A-Z and 0-9. In addition, you can use special characters when declaring variables like $ or _.
